Chance
๐ Chance: The Heart of the FKC and Inaugural Hall of Fame Inductee
The Champion of the Underdog
When the Fast-Dogs Kennel Club (FKC) was founded, it was built on two things: a promise of safety and the unstoppable spirit of one small dogโChance. As the muse behind our motto, "At Fast-Dogs, we love all dogs, even the slow ones," Chance is the inaugural and most important inductee into the Fast-Dogs Hall of Fame.
From Vulnerability to Vision
Chance's path to the Hall of Fame began not with a victory lap, but with an injury.
As a dachshund, Chance was full of speed and joy, but his size made him acutely vulnerable. An injury at a traditional, uncontrolled public dog park shattered his owner's sense of security. It was a devastating moment that crystallized the problem: the world of dog play and sport was not built for dogs like Chance.
From that pain came the promise: Dad vowed to build a place where Chance and every dogโsmall, specialized, slow, or fastโcould run safely, without fear of injury due to size mismatch. This promise laid the foundation for the FKC's core principles: size-separated parks, mandatory safety testing, and the creation of the fairer, more structured environment we offer today.
The FKC's Slowest, Most Important Winner
While the FKC is known for its high-speed racing, Chanceโs Hall of Fame status is a tribute to a different kind of championship: the championship of spirit and perseverance.
Chance is, affectionately, the slowest dog in the FKC slogan. He proves that the essence of our sport is not beating the clock, but conquering your own challenge.
He embodies resilience: His return to running after his injury shows the powerful determination of the canine heart.
He validates our structure: Every time Chance safely completes a run in our structured, size-appropriate tracks, it validates the need for our safety protocols and progressive training curriculum (starting at the 25-yard mark).
He inspires the slow ones: He provides hope and representation to every handler whose dog is more interested in the journey than the finish line, proving that everyone has a place on the track.
๐ The Legacy of Chance
Chanceโs presence on the Hall of Fame wall is a constant reminder that our mission is rooted in protection, not just speed.
He represents every dog that needed a second chance at play, every owner who needed peace of mind, and the core belief that safety and fairness must come first.
When you see his photo, remember the small dog who inspired a national dream: to see FKC facilities in all 50 U.S. states, ensuring that every dog, fast or slow, can run free, safely, and joyfully.
Congratulations, Chance, on setting the standard for all of us..
Glymmer
and the roster will be complete.
Glymmer Sunstone Dream A Li'L Dream
Born: December 2, 2024
Breed: Dachshund
Owner: Tracy Jarvis
Some dogs find you. Some dogs find you right when you need them most.
The day Glymmer was born, Tracy didn't know she was coming. She was at the vet with one of the other dogs โ just another ordinary errand on an ordinary day. A woman walked in carrying a beautiful Dachshund puppy. Tracy couldn't take her eyes off it.
She asked the woman where she got her.
The woman smiled and handed her the breeder's information.
Tracy called that same day.
The breeder told her there was a new litter โ born that very morning. Normally she didn't allow visitors that early. Puppies are fragile. Breeders are protective. But something about Tracy's voice made her pause.
"You sound like you need this," she said. "Come over."
Tracy went.
And the moment she saw Glymmer โ that tiny, perfect, brand-new little life โ she fell in love on the spot.
She couldn't take her home yet. She was too young. So Tracy did what any devoted dog person does: she went back. Twice a week, every week, until the day Glymmer was finally old enough to come home.
Those visits weren't just about a puppy. They were about survival.
Tracy had just lost her mother โ Don's wife. The grief was enormous. The silence in the house was enormous. Chance had helped pull them both out of the darkness once before. And now, in a vet waiting room on a random Tuesday, fate handed Tracy a lifeline the size of a Dachshund puppy.
Glymmer didn't know she was doing anything heroic. She was just being herself โ warm, alive, and full of the kind of love that only a dog can give without conditions or explanations.
But that's exactly what saved Tracy.
Just like Chance saved the forest ranger.
Just like Chance saved Don.
Just like dogs have been saving people in Saint Hedwig for as long as Don has been holding a leash.
Glymmer is proof that healing doesn't always come from a clinic or a prescription. Sometimes it comes in a litter of puppies born on the exact day you walk into a vet's office and meet a stranger who changes everything.
She is small. She is new. She has barely begun her story.
But she already belongs in the Hall of Fame โ because she already saved someone we cannot live without.
Welcome home, Glymmer. You earned it before you even knew what earning meant.

Grimm
๐ Grimm: The Prototype Champion
Setting the Standard for Speed and Structure
If Chance is the heart of the FKC, Grimm is the engine. As a Hall of Fame inductee, Grimm represents the peak of canine athleticism achieved through the safe, structured training environment established by the Fast-Dogs Kennel Club. His story is proof that when safety comes first, elite speed follows.
The FKC Proof of Concept
Grimm, a powerful and highly-driven competitor, quickly became one of the first dogs to fully master the FKCโs progressive training curriculum. He demonstrated the critical importance of the FKC Safety Protocol:
The 25-Yard Foundation: Grimm proved that starting with a short, controlled 25-yard run allows handlers to perfect the start, control, and, crucially, the safe deceleration needed for long-term athletic health.
Progressive Advancement: He thrived as he advanced through the 50-yard and finally the 100-yard tracks, achieving blistering times only after mastering each safety phase.
Grimm showed the world that the FKC structure wasn't about limiting speedโit was about unlocking speed responsibly.
A Champion of Fair Competition
While Grimm is undeniably fast, his legacy is tied to his success within the FKC's size-based classification system.
Competing within his own weight and size class, Grimm established benchmarks for excellence, proving that the FKC system works: it provides a level playing field where dogs compete against their peers, not against statistically impossible matchups.
His repeated championships and record-setting times within his division cemented the FKC's reputation as a legitimate, high-level sports organization dedicated to fair play and safety-first competition.
๐ Grimm's Lasting Impact
Grimmโs success story does more than fill a trophy case; it serves as a roadmap for every competitive handler at Fast-Dogs:
The Power of Training: He highlights the essential role of handler dedication and high-level training in achieving peak performance.
The Value of Structure: He proves that controlled, incremental training is the safest, most effective path to speed and consistency.
Grimm is a Hall of Fame inductee because he is the ideal FKC athlete: a safe, powerful champion who achieved his elite status by trusting the structure built by Fast-Dogs.
Congratulations, Grimm, on setting the speed standard for the FKC.
